The YouTube Creators For Change is an amazing initiative started by YouTube. At a time when the internet could potentially create a divide, YouTube hoped to create unity and positive social impact.

The Creators For Change program began in 2016 with the idea of amplifying the voice of creators that are role models, that use their channel to speak up against racism, sexism and other forms of hate speech, etc. The first six program ambassadors were YouTubers Nilam Farooq, Humza Arshad, Baris Ozcan, Natalie Tran, Abdel En Vrai and Omar Hussein.

Let’s take a look at what the process of becoming a creator for change looks like and how you can get involved.

How the program works

To be a voice for positive social impact and to spread and create awareness about kindness, empathy, etc. YouTube provides creators with a range of promotions and training to articulate content. After a few national boot camps, YouTube creators can submit their video projects as proposals. In the next step, the chosen creators attend a regional social impact camp in Bangkok. From here, they must complete the three month academy program and finally, only after this rigorous process can their videos be launched.
